The Controller Clients:Bunim-Murray, Electronic Arts, GameStop Disciplines:Design/Motion Graphics Video: Notes:I’ve been working on a reality show for Bunim-Murray (Real World, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Project Runway, etc.) and their clients: GameStop and Electronics Arts. The program’s name is “The Controller” and has been produced in conjunction with with the release of Battlefield 3, one of EA’s most successful first person shooter franchises. The show pits professional video gamers (???) with celebrity ‘Noobs’ in “Survivor-like’ competitions that feature $50,000 in prize monies. It’s a pretty high-budget affair and totally down my alley design-wise. I love video games AND killing things (virtually only, of course)… So I simply based the look and feel on my two favorite games: Skate 3 & Madden 2011… (which are, serendipitously, both EA properties). I love working on mobile applications because, although I’m usually not involved with the coding, I am able to work directly with talented developers to figure out the best way to accomplish the desired tasks. I enjoy the give and take that makes the proccess work. Frag’d Social Club Site Clients:Frag’D Entertainment Disciplines:Design/UI/Copy Editing/Coding(PHP, CSS, JQuery) Notes:The Frag’D Social Club is a recurring night club/video gaming event hosted by several high-profile Hollywood hot spots. Each night is hosted by a different celebrity (Carmen Electra, Stacey Keibler) and promoted by various sponsors (Red Bull, NVIDIA). One (fun) challenge was integrating the site with TicketSocket.com’s reservations back-end (hence the floor plan illustration I created). WordPress Sites Clients:The Disaster Hunter, The California Wine Guy Disciplines:Design/UI/Copy Editing/Coding Notes:Like all designers, I often get entrepreneurial clients high on ideas and low on capital whom I really, reallyy want to support. Here are two examples: A Comedian/Sommelier (wine expert) attempting to consolidate his careers A former Red Cross Executive/Disaster Expert pitching a TV show Neither had a logo/Look nor a clear idea of how to organize their thoughts on a website In each case I turned to WordPress and taught each how to use its content management system. I would always rather code by hand (heck, it’s easier than navigating through all that WordPress gobitiegook) but with simple theme modifications I was able to quickly provide Patrick and Tom fully functional sites with social networking and advertising functionality. Here are two examples: A Comedian/Sommelier (wine expert) attempting to consolidate his careers A former Red Cross Executive/Disaster Expert pitching a TV show Neither had a logo/Look nor a clear idea of how to organize their thoughts on a website In each case I turned to WordPress and taught each how to use its content management system. I would always rather code by hand (heck, it’s easier than navigating through all that WordPress gobitiegook) but with simple theme modifications I was able to quickly provide Patrick and Tom fully functional sites with social networking and advertising functionality.
